Whether you are fascinated by the wildlife and hiking trails of Rocky Mountain National Park or interested in swooshing down the slopes, you can find joy in Denver, Colorado.
There is another whole kind of enthusiast that finds joy in Denver, though, and that is the train lover.
Whether it is the lonesome whistle of an engine on the tracks or the whizzing speed of a cargo delivery, you can entertain your love of trains while you are in Denver. Specifically, I am talking about the Broadmoor Manitou and Pike’s Peak Railway. You can take the train to the top of Pikes Peak. Your destination event can be found nowhere else. The railway takes you on a nine-mile adventure and brings you over 14 thousand feet up. Although it has been closed for a while, June 2021 has brought the re-opening of this purely Coloradoan experience. If you are going to be visiting Denver anytime, it pays to ride the train. Denver is more than skiing and using legal marijuana. Manitou Springs, where the train takes you, is right outside Denver, and it has a charm all its own. There are healing waters, amazing art in downtown, and beautiful parks to flit through as you enjoy the most amazing weather Colorado has to offer. The Broadmoor Manitou and PIkes Peak Railway is now open from 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night during the warmer weather of summer. During the autumn, you can ride the train through crisp and clear days and see the leaves change color in September and October. You may come for the easy, legal marijuana use, but train lovers will stay for the railway.
