I am a huge Wilco fan and anytime they tour, I make sure to get a ticket for them. I always try to see them in a new venue too. I have seen them so many times that I like to make each time feel different. This October I found that Wilco is playing at the Santa Barbara Bowl. It is a gorgeous outdoor amphitheater with rock formations all around it. You can see the city line and trees all around it. It is the perfect, natural looking outdoor venue that I love best. I debated on just flying in, seeing the concert, spending a night and flying out. I live pretty far away and it would be a rush job. I started looking at things to do in Santa Barbara and was shocked by what is offered. There are gardens, museums, tours, wineries and beaches. I am more of a food and drink type of guy though. The wine tasting rooms appealed to me, the many restaurants and of course the legal weed was a big bonus. I looked at the recreational cannabis dispensaries in the area and realized I needed to stop in. My itinerary is looking like it will be a three day trip. Day one I want to get my legal cannabis ahead of time so that I can sneak it into the concert. Day two is the concert and day three I think will be wine and beaches for me. Clear Creek flows into Denver and it is one of the best places to go fishing during the summer.

Fishing in Denver is especially fun, because there are a number of lakes and reservoirs.

There are several creeks and rivers, but they will require you to cast from the shoreline. Colorado requires a fishing license for any person over the age of 16. One of my favorite places is the Clear Creek Whitewater Park. It’s in the town of Golden, just outside of Denver. The Cherry Creek Reservoir is also another nice place to fish in the Denver area. Boating is acceptable and there are even some places on the marina that will rent boats to anglers. The weather last Saturday was especially nice. It was a warm summer day and the temperature was 80 degrees. Instead of sitting at home in the air conditioning, my friends and I decided to go to the creek to fish during the afternoon. We were at the creek for several hours before we decided to leave. As we were walking back from the creek to get to our vehicle, we noticed an interesting item by the river. My friends and I were worried and scared that it was a human being, but it turned out to be a mannequin from a department store. If someone was trying to pull a cruel and unusual prank, it certainly worked. We thought we stumbled across a body and we were all really freaked out. This Saturday afternoon, my friends and I decided to stay home in the AC.

I needed a big change after my girlfriend and I broke up. I was heartbroken, surprised, and shocked when she sent me a breakup text. We were living together at the time. I came home to the apartment and all of her things were gone. She had clearly been planning the getaway for weeks. In Denver, the temperatures at the airport are often colder than the temperatures in downtown Denver.

When my wife and I were getting ready to leave Denver to fly to the west coast to spend time with our family, we looked at the weather report for the day of our flight.

It was going to be cold and there was a storm in the area. We hoped the storm would hold off until after our plane left the runway. Unfortunately, it started snowing around 3 in the afternoon and my wife and I were not scheduled to leave the airport until 8:30 pm. Over the next several hours, it continued to snow and our flight was eventually delayed and then canceled. It was 42 degrees at home, but it was only 28 degrees at the airport. There was a lot of ice and it was causing problems. The wings were frozen and the planes had to be de-iced before we could leave. My wife and I ended up canceling our flight and rescheduling it for the following day. Since we had an extra day to spend in Denver, we decided to do something crazy with our night. I’ve only lived in San Francisco for the past five years, but the traffic isn’t any worse than LA or Sacramento. There are a lot more hell’s and one way straight, but a busy day of traffic is a busy day of traffic no matter where you live.
