I didn't want to hear the bad news

Last Friday, I took the kids to Clearwater Beach for the afternoon.

We packed a picnic with drinks, sandwiches, cookies, and fruit. I packed some water and Gatorade for the kids and a couple of Pepsi’s for me. The temperatures in Tampa were supposed to be 97 degrees. We drove to Clearwater before it got very hot. We were set up on the beach with our umbrella, cooler, blankets, tent, and chairs, before the sun was at the highest point. We stayed at the beach for 3 or 4 hours. When the kids started to get tired, we went back home. Since the kids had lunch in the car, we didn’t have to scramble around when we got home from Clearwater Beach. When we did arrive home after going to the beach, the kids and I were surprised to come home to a warm and uncomfortable setting. The air conditioner clearly wasn’t working properly I got on the phone immediately and contacted an HVAC service provider and Tampa Bay. I called a couple of places before I found someone that could help me right away. Most people wanted to make an appointment for that next morning, but there was absolutely no way I wanted to spend the evening without cool air in the house. About an hour after we got home, the AC repair service man arrived. It turned out to be the husband of a woman that is working in my office. I remembered the guy from a Christmas party in the past. Since I knew the repair technician, I felt much more at ease when he delivered the bad news.
