Tuscaloosa has a lot of AC repair shops, but only a handful of them are open for emergency services.
Tuscaloosa has a dense population of more than 100,000 people.
There are about 20 or 30 different AC and heat pump repair shops. In my small neighborhood, there is only one place that is open for emergency services 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. My mom came to visit Tuscaloosa for a week last summer and I had to call the emergency AC repair shop. My mom thought that she would use the top of the ductless AC unit as a cup holder. My mom spilled a whole cup of soda pop on the ductless AC unit. She told me that she heard some strange zapping noises and I assumed that was a short in the machine. The air inside of the house kept getting warmer and warmer and the AC unit did not come on at all. I realized that the machine needed to be serviced. I contacted an AC repair shop that is close by and they told me that it was too late for a regular service appointment. They did not offer emergency services, but they gave me the name of a company in Tuscaloosa that did offer same day services after 7:00 p.m. I wanted to make sure that my mom was going to be able to sleep that night and the air conditioner wasn’t working. I decided to pay the extra fees for the emergency service crew. It was an extra fifty bucks, but they arrived within one hour to diagnose and fix the problem with the air conditioner.
