Living in Winnetka, California, puts us just twenty minutes from Malibu Creek State Park.

We can avoid the parking charges by leaving the car at the corner of Mulholland and Las Virgenes and following the Grassland Trail into the park. At one time, the park was owned by 20th Century Fox Studios and was the setting of movies and televisions shows including Planet of the Apes and M*A*S*H. There are 15 miles of trails that travel through oak and sycamore woodlands. Hiking offers views of volcanic rock gorges, beautiful pools and amazing views of the Las Virgenes Valley and Malibu Canyon. Along with hiking, there is bird watching, climbing, fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing and horseback riding. The weather in the area is typically warm, sunny and perfect for outdoor activities. Whenever possible, my husband and I enjoy camping at Malibu Creek State Park. We like to pack up the RV with all of the necessary supplies and make a quick stop at the marijuana dispensary.
