My sister told me that she wanted to rent a yacht for her birthday party this year.
She said that she was paying for everything and that we all just needed to dress for the occasion and arrive at the boat marina at a specified time.
I decided to bring a bottle of champagne as a birthday present, but I was surprised by the sheer volume of alcohol that she was bringing with her to begin with. This was definitely going to be a day I regret the next morning with a splitting headache that is painful enough to drop an elephant. However, the morning of my sister’s birthday party ended up being much colder than expected. Our winter in Florida was extremely mild during December and part of January, but now we’re having sudden cold snaps with temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s. Since we were on a boat in Tampa Bay, the wind chill was formidable that day and I was so thankful that the yacht had a warm heating system in the cabin area underneath. We spent a good portion of the afternoon inside the cabin staying warm with the yacht’s heating system. After we were done with the excursion, the boat captain took us back to the marina by Fish Creek. Old Tampa Bay is a beautiful chunk of water that shares coasts with Oldsmar and St. Petersburg. We even got to see the Sunshine Skyway Bridge while we were out on the water in our wonderfully heated and rented yacht. I’m just glad that I wasn’t the one footing the bill for the afternoon.
